Reliant Defense is a trade compliance service provider with large clients and established credibility. My team and I’s goal was to redesign the website to attract new clients and illustrate the company’s extensive knowledge and experience in the industry.

Competitive Analysis
By looking at how other companies in the industry organized their websites, my team and I were able to determine what features and content to add or eliminate from Reliant Defense’s website. Through the competitive analysis we learned the following:
- Other companies featured testimonials from clients
- Adding a FAQ page was important to answer basic questions about the industry and services the company provides
- A resource page gives potential clients resources to review before scheduling a consultation
- Competitors had 20+ page websites
- Competitors had personal photos instead of stock images

Wireframes
Since Reliant Defense was a class project with tight deadlines, my team and I created a wireframe of the homepage after choosing a theme template. Once the wireframe and theme template were finalized, we went straight into designing the site on WordPress.

What I Learned
Reliant Defense was my first client-driven project. Learning how to communicate ideas and justify design decisions based on the client’s goals was challenging, but it was a rewarding feeling when a compromise was met and both sides agreed. If I could go back, I would take more time during the strategy phase because the class had tight deadlines, and my team and I weren’t able to fully create a new strategy; we just built off of the old one.
